St Paul Beresford MP, Patron of the BRIGHT charity hosted a dinner at the House of Commons on the 12th October 2018, to celebrate the merger of BRIGHT and the LCSA (Liver Cancer Surgery Appeal), two charities that are based at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford. The event was kindly sponsored by Genesiscare, enabling the charity to raise a staggering £15,000 at the event.
The money raised will go towards the campaign to raise £200,000 to purchase a Nanoknife. A Nanoknife machine is used for the treatment of pancreatic cancers and GI cancers that have spread to the liver but are surgically inoperable.
Very few hospitals in the UK have access to this treatment. Having the ability to offer the Nanoknife would be a significant improvement for patient care at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford.
