Royal Surrey Hospital Community Open Day
On Saturday June 28, Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford is holding its Community Open Day. It’s a fun-filled activity packed event for all the family showcasing some of the amazing work of teams from across Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust. Parts of the hospital will be open for you to get a unique behind-the-scenes look at the world-class healthcare available on your doorstep. Â
Visitors can enjoy a range of experiences including theatre tours to see surgical robots in action, demonstrations of CPR and first aid training and access to free blood pressure tests. You’ll be able to learn new skills from our experts including:
- How to take an X-ray and watch an ultrasound investigation
- Audiology specialists will be giving visitors a go at shaping an ear mould and testing your balance
- The Trust’s community teams will be sharing their expertise and the fabulous services they deliver through the Frailty Academy and Admiral Nursing team
- Physios and other allied health professionals will be demonstrating their expertise and the multiple ways they support treatment and patient recovery
- Radiotherapy teams will be offering tours of the newly opened Cancer Centre. Â
Anyone interested in a healthcare-related future can access careers advice and find out what life is like working in the hospital.Â
They’ll be live music, family friendly food, competitions and prizes for younger visitors with a kids’ zone packed with fun and games. Local fire, ambulance and police services will also be there – so if you’ve always wanted to see inside the emergency vehicles, now’s your chance!
The Trust will also be hosting some of their partners and local health related community groups who’ll be there to share how they can offer support to you.Â
The event is generously supported by Royal Surrey Charity which is celebrating 30 years of support for the Trust’s hospitals.Â
It’s a day not to be missed. It’s FREE – there’s no charge for parking at the hospital and everyone is welcome! Put it in your diary and spread the word!Â
